This uses the OEM sensor and is for monitoring all of the functionality of the OEM knock system. No additional hardware needs to be installed, this is showing what is happening in the stock (or chipped) ECU. Some key differences between the OEM system and J&S KnockGuard: OEM detects knock at 1200rpm+, J&S is 1750rpm+ OEM has per-cylinder knock-thresholds, J&S uses the same sensitivity for all cylinders. OEM knock detection can be turned on/off for individual ignition map cells, J&S can't OEM uses knock to switch between high/low octane maps, J&S nope OEM allows custom tuning different knock retard/advance limits for different areas of the ignition map, J&S doesn't OEM lets you to monitor all of the parameters in real-time over the consult port, J&S has no software interface. And contrary to popular belief, the OEM system does actually do knock control all the way to redline!
